HENRY ERNST
Was born in Prussia, Germany, Oct. 11th, 1811. In 1830 he came to this country and lived for two years in New York City. In 1832 he went to St. Louis, where he was married to Catherine Kiefer. Five children were the fruits of this union, three of whom are still living. From St. Louis he journeyed to Belleville, Illinois, in 1834, where he resided for eight years. From Belleville he came to Bellevue, in 1842 and has resided here ever since. In 1845 his wife died with cholera. The following year he was again married, this time to Mrs. Kathrina Burcheding. Three children, two sons and a daughter, were the fruits of this second union. Only the daughter survives the father. The deceased leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss. Henry Ernst prospered in life and died possessed of considerable money and property. He was a ??? honorable and honest man. H????? was a bond and his friendship ???? as steel. His death is not on??? loss to his family, by ??????? loved, but is a ???? is deeply felt by this whole community. His funeral took place from the Lutheran church, Rev. Lenz conducting the service.
