Deceased Name: Thelma C. Horan

ANDREW, Iowa - Thelma C. Horan, 95, of Andrew, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook, with the Rev. Paul Lippstock officiating. Burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springbrook. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday,

Dec. 28, at Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where there will be a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

She was born on Aug. 30, 1913, in Green Island, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Oberman) Mangler. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1932.

She married Harry Horan in August 1935, in Galena, Ill.; he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1978.

Thelma was a homemaker and worked with her husband on the farm.

She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook.

Thelma enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing and quilting in her early years.

Surviving are a son, Ronald (Mary) Horan, of Andrew; a daughter, Marcella "Sally" Rowan, of Andrew; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Madeline Hingtgen, of La Motte.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, John, in 1937; and a grandson in 1993.
