Deceased Name: Rita M. Arensdorf

LA MOTTE, Iowa - Rita M. (Manderscheid) Arensdorf, of LaMotte, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Memorial funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Saint Columbkille's Catholic Church, 1240 Rush St., with the Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Dec. 7, 1924, in La Motte, daughter of William and Mae Manderscheid. She married Gerald Arensdorf on Oct. 17, 1944. They were blessed with seven children, 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Rita's passions were her family and friends, playing cards, traveling and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Surviving are her husband Gerald; children Sue (Mike) Kennedy, Ken (Christy) Arensdorf, Howard (Sandy) Arensdorf, Angie (Bob) Burdett, Jeff (special friend, Robin) Arensdorf and Terry (Anita) Arensdorf; and her sister, Grace Nemmers.

She was preceded in death by her son, Master Sergeant David Arensdorf.

Thank-you to Dr. Akabogu and to Finley Hospital ICU Unit for all the care and kindness they gave to Rita.
