Deceased Name: Robert E. Kieffer

BELLEVUE, Iowa - Robert E. Kieffer, 78, of 1201 Park St., Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at the care center, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bellevue, where military rites will be accorded by the Bellevue American Legion Post 273. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Mr. Kieffer formerly worked at the Savanna (Ill.) Ordinance Depot, retiring in 1981.

He was born on June 13, 1927, in Bellevue, son of Harvey E. and Amelia C. (Norpel) Kieffer.

He was an Army Veteran in World War II, serving in Germany.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 273, former Legion Chaplain and former member of the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are a brother, Larry Kieffer, S.V.D., of Papua, New Guinea; two sisters, Rita Herting, of Dubuque, and Lois Roeder, of St. Luis, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Rosie Kieffer, of Dubuque, and Leona Kieffer, of Bellevue; and 31 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Amelia (Norpel) Kieffer; two brothers, Donald Kieffer and Carl Kieffer; and a sister, Norma Gibbs.
