SPRINGBROOK, Iowa - Dolores A. Heiar, 79, of Springbrook, died following a sudden illness, Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery, both in Springbrook. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Haylock- O'Hara & Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where there will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Mrs. Heiar was a homemaker.

She was born on April 22, 1920, south of Springbrook, daughter of Mathew and Julia (Kilburg) Michel. She married Delbert N. Heiar on Oct. 20, 1943, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook.

She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and was currently serving on the parish council. She was a member of the Springbrook Quilters; and a member and bookkeeper for the Springbrook Senior Citizens. She loved gardening, flowers, embroidery and crocheting.

Surviving are her husband, Delbert Heiar, of Springbrook; four daughters, Sister Janet Heiar, SSND, of New Hampton, Anna Mae (Mrs. Jack) Tebbe, of Maquoketa, Margaret "Peg" (Mrs. Tom) Manderscheid, of Grand Haven, Mich., and Barbara (Mrs. Dennis) Tebbe, of Maquoketa; three sons, the Rev. James Heiar, SVD, of Divine Word College, Epworth, currently on sabbatical in Baybay, Leyte, Philippines, Stephen (Peggy) Heiar, of Spragueville, and Mark (Connie) Heiar, of Spragueville; 15 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Alverda Heiar, of Bellevue, Helen (Mrs. Harold) Zeimet, of Springbrook, Sister Mary Matthew Michel, SSND, of Mankato, Minn., Alvina Stillmunkes, and Arlene (Mrs. Orville) Hager, both of Bellevue, Marian Kloft, Maquoketa; Bernadine Hartung, of Preston, and Carma (Mrs. Lloyd) Frank, of Lancaster, Wis.; and three brothers, Donald Michel, and Bernard (Darlene) Michel, both of Bellevue, and Herman Michel, of Sabula.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son-in-law, Daniel Lanham.

A Dolores A. Heiar Memorial Fund has been established.
