Florence S. Medinger was born January 23, 1924, in Springbrook, Iowa, to Albert and Mary (Scheckel) Medinger. She married Alvin N. Heiar on August 1, 1944, in Springbrook, Iowa. He died on February 11, 1989. Florence was a homemaker and a nurse's aide. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Andrew, and its Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Raphael #1156, Maquoketa, and ACCW. She also did volunteer work for many organizations.

She is survived by her 6 children, Pat (Jim) Peterman of Maquoketa, Dennis Heiar of Walcott, Kenneth (Charlene) Heiar of LaPorte City, Gary (Kathleen) Heiar of Anamosa, Mary (Bill) Sullivan of South Beloit, Illinois, & Kathy (Rex) Braden of Irvine, California; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Lillian (Ed) Trenkamp of Preston, Arlene (Bill) Berger of Sioux City, Mila Keil of Maquoketa & Maxine Sullivan of Goose Lake; one brother, Vincent Medinger of Maquoketa, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, John and Vernon "Bud" Medinger.

Florence S. Heiar, 86, of Andrew, Iowa, died Monday, April 12, 2010, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa.
