ORVILLE C. ROLING
BELLEVUE, Iowa -- Orville C. Roling, 79, of Bellevue, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home until procession to the church.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1930, in Bellevue, son of Joseph L. and Helen (Stechen) Roling. He married Rosemary Kilburg on May 20, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Orville and his wife farmed for more than 56 years. He was an easygoing, kind and caring man who always had time for others. He also had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and farming. In his later years he enjoyed playing cards, puzzles and riding his gator around the farm.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Rosemary; four children, Lynn (Linda) Roling, of Anamosa, Faye Ann, of Bellevue, Nancy (Terry) Kieffer, of Preston, Mary Jo (Jeff Selzer) Roling-Dannar, of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Kim (Johnny) Johnston, Chad (Carrie) Richardson, Travis, Dakota and Amanda Kieffer; three great-grandchildren, Sean Michael and Austin Chase Richardson and Cole Johnston; two sisters, Isabelle Stillmunkes and Lucille (John) Merkes, both of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lavonne; six brothers, Vincent, Art, Richard, Raymond, Glenn and Aloysius; and four sisters, Bernice Heim, Estella Kilburg, Ida Herrig and Virginia Deppe.
