Carolyn M. Roling, 83 of Bellevue, died Monday, February 16, 2009 at Mill Valley Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 23 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue officiated by Father Stephen Meyer. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22 at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home and again Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 until procession to the church.

Carol was born on September 12, 1925 in Bellevue, daughter of Frank J. and Frances (Medinger) Kilburg. She married Richard N. Roling on September 12, 1945 in Sabula, Ia, he passed away on August 17, 2005

For 24 years she helped Richard raise seven children on their farm located west of Bellevue. She worked for the Frommelt Company in Dubuque for many years. Carolyn was kind, helpful and hardworking. She always went out of her way to help others and made sure everyone was comfortable and well fed. She enjoyed baking and cooking and was most known for her lemon meringue pies and cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. She spent a lot of time in her garden, taking care of her flowers. She has even been known to pull weeds on other peoples gardens. Carolyn was a proud grandma and enjoyed being a part of her grandchildren's upbringing. She was a special person and will be truly missed.

Surviving are her three sons, Gene (Donna) Roling, of Savannah, New York, Philip (Jackie) Roling, of Eldridge, Iowa, and Steve (Peggy) Roling, of Bellevue; four daughters, Jane (Emil) Kucirek, of Bellevue, Washington, Joyce Roling, of Davenport, Julie (Wayne) Goodwin, of Davenport, and Jennifer (Jack) Edwards, of Salem, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Stacey (Matt) Agena, Kathy (Jon) Miller, Jill (Nick) Scarson, Ryan Roling, Allison (Kyle) Beckwith, Michael (Audrey) Roling, Bobby (Holly) Fondell, Christina Roling, and Danny Roling; five great grandchildren; three brothers, Marvin (Gloria) Kilburg, of Cypress, California, Allen (DiAnn) Kilburg, and David (Betty) Kilburg, both of Bellevue; three sisters, Marceline Sullivan, of Glenview, Illinois, Alice Cassaday Davis, of Bellevue, and Mary Jane Dunn of Santa Cruz California.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Edward and Gerald Kilburg.

The family would like to thank Mill Valley Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for their special care shown to Carolyn.
