Leo C. Rubel
(November 4, 1925 - June 8, 2010)Leo C. Rubel, 84, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at his home in Bellevue.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 12, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Leo will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Saturday morning after 9:00 until procession to the church.
Leo was born November 4, 1925 in Dallas, South Dakota, the son of Charles and Ida (Budde) Rubel. He married Darlene Michels on May 16, 1950 in Springbrook.
In his early years Leo worked at the Savanna Army Depot. In 1959 he began working for The Principal Insurance Company as a Certified Life Underwriter. He fully retired in 2005. Through the years he also operated Rubel Tax Service. Leo was extremely active in the community, he served on the Springbrook Fire Department, Bellevue School Board, City Clerk for Springbrook and Spragueville, an active member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue, and was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Bellevue.
Leo was extremely proud of his family and spending time with them took priority. He made sure there were plenty of family vacations and family get-togethers. Leo will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 60 years, Darlene Rubel, of Bellevue; Randy (Mary) Rubel, of Bellevue, Kathy (Lennie) Thielen, of Dubuque, Terry (Karen) Rubel, of Maquoketa, Sandi (Larry "Buck") Koos, of LaMotte, Carla (Marty) Decker, of Zwingle, and Jackie Scheckel, of Bellevue; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister, Sr. Miriam Rubel OSF, of Alliance, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Vernon (Marcella) Rubel.
The Family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Jackson County and the Bellevue Ambulance Service for their care and compassion.
