Leroy Kilburg
(August 1, 1920 - July 26, 2009)Leroy N. Kilburg, 88 of Bellevue, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; Bellevue officiated by Father Stephen Meyer. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home and again Thursday morning at the funeral home after 9:30 until Procession to the Church.
Leroy was born on August 1, 1920 in Springbrook, son of Pete and Augusta (Puetz) Kilburg. He married Kathleen Hartung on September 19, 1950 in Bellevue.
Leroy was a hard worker who farmed for over 57 years. He was a man of few words but was always there when needed. Leroy was a faithful man who prayed often. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time on the farm driving his four-wheeler, playing cards, gambling at the casino and time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Kathleen Kilburg, of Bellevue; four children, Dennis (Diane) Kilburg, of Bellevue, Ruth Ann Kilburg, of Maquoketa, Lynn “Kicker” (Karla) Kilburg, of Bellevue, and Connie (Mark) Heiar, of Spragueville; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; six sisters, Lucille Borman, Bernice (Vivian) Borman, Millie Haxmeier, Marcie Roling, Ruth (Allen) Heiar, and Jean Hoffmann; and a sister in-law, Velma Kilburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Merlin; and four brothers in-law.
