Walter Nicholas Kilburg, 97, of Bellevue, Iowa, died Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa.

A Mass of christian burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellevue. Rev. Stephen Meyer officiated. Burial was in the perish cemetery.

Visitation was on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kingery Funeral Home in Bellevue and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of procession to the church.

Walter was born February 17, 1909 in Springbrook, Iowa to Nick G. & Mary Dondlinger Kilburg. He married Eleanor Rubel on October 2, 1934. She survives.

Walter was a farmer and previously worked for the city of Bellevue Street Department as well as for Jackson County. He was a member of t he Bellevue Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife Eleanor; his children; Darwin & Barb Roeder Kilburg, De Witt, Iowa. Mary Lois & Tom Kueter, Preston, Iowa, Doris & Don Medinger, Bellevue, Iowa and Arla & Terry Hodgkinson, Orlando, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Luella & the late Melvin Kilburg; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters, Ben, Lester, Melvin, Art, ELmer, Clarence and Leola Ambrosy and Marlena Arensdorf; a daughter-in-law Judy Kueter Kilburg and granddaugher, Tammy Kilburg.

Kingery Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements.
