(February 17, 1924 - August 14, 2010)

Jean E. Daugherty, 86, of Bellevue, died Saturday morning, August 14, 2010 at her home in Bellevue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 16, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Jean will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Monday morning after 9:00 until procession to the church.

Jean was born February 17, 1924 in Bellevue, daughter of C. Vin and Teresa (Kueter) Daugherty. Jean was a Nurse Anesthetist CRNA; she worked for St. Anthony Hospital in Carol, Iowa, St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, Wisconsin and Medical Associates in Dubuque until her retirement. Jean was a generous and caring person who volunteered many years for the American Red Cross and St. Joseph Church and School. In addition to quiet nights reading, crocheting, visiting with friends and family, Jean also enjoyed traveling. Jean was the family historian; much loved by her relatives, and treated her nieces and nephews as her own. She was extremely proud of her Irish Heritage.

Those left to honor her memory include her four sisters, Helen Mulligan, of Garden City, South Carolina, Sr. Gertrude Daugherty, of Lacrosse, Wisconsin, Mary Lou (Dorrence) Koppes, of Peoria, Arizona, and Sr. Betty Daugherty, of Hiawatha, Iowa; four sisters in-law, Agnes Daugherty, of Redwood Valley, California, Helen Daugherty, Betty Daugherty and Rita Daugherty, all of Bellevue; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers, Neil, Charles, William Gregory, John, Patrick, and Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to Hospice of Dubuque.
