Deceased Name: WILBUR W. HERRIG

BELLEVUE, Iowa - Services for Wilbur W. "Whitey" Herrig, 80, 207 S. Fifth St., Bellevue, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. The Rev. Dan Knepper will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Reveille Post 273, of Bellevue. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kingery-Gallagher Funeral Home, Bellevue, where there will be a scripture service at 5 p.m.

Mr. Herrig and his wife lived in Bellevue, and he worked at A.Y. McDonald Co. in Dubuque until retiring in 1978.

He was born on May 4, 1915, in Springbrook, son of John M. and Mary Ellen (Horan) Herrig. He died Thursday, April 4, 1996, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit, Dubuque.

He married Helen Schilling on Oct. 29, 1946, at La Motte; she died on Sept. 1, 1978.

He served in the Army during World War II in the bomb disposal unit. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the International Association of Machnists Local 1238, and was a 50-year member of the American Legion, Reveille Post 273, of Bellevue. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Loras (Jill) Herrig, of Bellevue, and Larry (Jane) Herrig, of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Walt (Susan) Holmes, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Linda Martens, of Cambridge, Ill.; six grandchildren; a brother, Alvin (Marcedes) Herrig, of Bellevue; and two sisters, Coletta Polhemus and Birdella Herrig, both of Moline, Ill.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters.
