LA MOTTE, Iowa - Sylvan R. Herrig, 71, 28482 Centerville Road, La Motte, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, at the Dubuque Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Donatus Catholic Church, St. Donatus, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at the Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Colonial Funeral Home.

Sylvan farmed in the St. Donatus area most of his life.

He was born on April 13, 1926, in St. Donatus, son of Henry and Mary (Gehler) Herrig.

Surviving are three sisters, Norma Michel and Saverna (Bert) Stoltz, both of Dubuque, and Rhinelda Brune, of Peosta; and a brother, Florian (Charlene) Herrig, of St. Donatus.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Melvin Herrig.

A Sylvan R. Herrig Memorial Fund has been established.
