Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 12, 2011 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Otter Creek, Iowa
Interment: Saturday March 12, 2011 at Holy Rosary Cemetery, La Motte, Iowa

Leona Francis Haxmeier was born February 18, 1923 at home in Bellevue, Iowa, to Paul and Florence (Lampe) Haxmeier. She married Mark A. Till on November 28, 1946 in St. Donatus, Iowa. He died on April 25, 2008. She was a homemaker and did daycare in her home for many years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Otter Creek. Leona was a dedicated wife and a loving devoted mother to her six children. Her greatest joy was to be with her family and she especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leona enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping, watching TV, and solving crossword puzzles. Leona was a three time cancer survivor and lived life with courage and grace.

Leona is survived by her six children, Paul (Sharon) Till of Bellevue, Suzie (Donnie) Koenig of La Motte, Sam (Maria) Till of Moline, Illinois, Alan Till of Maquoketa, Sally (Bruce) Thole and Jan (Mark) Wagner of La Motte; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, James (LaVon) Haxmeier & LaVern (Mary Ann) Haxmeier of La Motte; and 2 sisters-in-law, Lois Haxmeier of Key West & Marge Haxmeier of La Motte. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters, Bernice (Lester) Keil, Rose (John) Manderscheid & Lucille (Anthony) Till, and three brothers, Ralph Haxmeier, Delbert (Brenda) Haxmeier & Orville Haxmeier.

Leona F. Till, 88, of La Motte, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at her home.

Leona's family wishes to thank Hospice of Jackson County, especially Lisa, for all their care and kindness given to Leona.
