BELLEVUE, Iowa

Marilyn C. Haxmeier, 78, of Bellevue, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at Lemke Funeral Home, Bellevue, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born on Nov. 13, 1929, in Bellevue, daughter of Nick and Clara (Yoerger) Heiar.

She married Donald J. Haxmeier on May 24, 1949, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on June 15, 2005.

Marilyn was a homemaker and helped her husband, Donald, on the family farm.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother who loved to help others and was a friend to many.

Surviving are five children, Mary Lou (Donald) Weis and John (Susan) Haxmeier, both of Bellevue, Carol (Donald) Bradley, of Waterloo, Lorin (Lisa) Haxmeier, of Eagleville, Mo., and Rita (David) Haxmeier-Collison, of Johnston; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Allan (Ruth) Heiar, of Bellevue; and three sisters, Evelyn (Don) Neubert, of Bellevue, Valeta (Ronald) Schmidt, of Delmar, and Verna Mae (Raymond) Ernst, of Bellevue.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathy Haxmeier; and a brother, Richard Heiar.
