SANGER--Mary Spires was born in Brown county, Ohio, February 20, 1837, and died at the home on Otto street June 23rd, 1914, at 5:55 p. m. At the age of twelve years she moved with her parents to Illinois where they lived on a farm near Perry, Pike county. On October 30, 1855, at Quincy, Ill., she was married to Geo. Drumm, three children being born to this union.

On March 21, 1861 Mr. Drumm passed away; on July 3 she married Louis Sanger. In 1867 they moved to Iowa. To this union eight children were born. Mr. Sanger died at his home three miles north of Maquoketa December 17th, 1886. In 1904 Mrs. Sanger moved to her late home in this city. At the age of 18 years Mrs. Sanger was baptized and joined the M. E. church of which she has since been a believer and faithful member. For over a year Mrs. Sanger has been in failing health and her demise was not unexpected, cancer of the liver being the cause of her death. She bore her suffering most patiently, living and trusting in her Savior.

She is survived by six children, viz.: Wm. Drumm of Hoisington, Kans., Mrs. John Hartman, Chas. R. and Henry W. Sanger living north of town; Mrs. J. C. Hartman of Appleton, Minn., and F. D. Sanger of Inkster, N. Dak., also twenty-six grandchilren, one sister, Mrs. Nancy Bowen of Alba, Mo., and four brothers, Curtis Spires of Oklahoma; James Spires of Brush Prairie, Wash.; Richard Spires of Glasgo, Mo., and David Spires of Hoisington, Kan.

Funeral services will be held from the late residence at 2 p. m. today (Thursday), Rev. Gilkison officiating. Interment in the Esgate cemetery.
