McCard--Keziah McCard was born in Salem county, Mo., June 7, 1819, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Helen Head, Eliza street, Maquoketa, Iowa, Feb. 26, 1904, aged 84 years, 8 months and 19 days. In Oct. 1841, she was married to J. B. McCard. To this union twelve children were born, seven are still living. Mr. and Mrs. McCard came from Missouri to Iowa shortly after their marriage and settled in Farmers Creek township, Jackson county, where they have since resided. Mr. McCard died about 20 years ago. He was a professor of religion for 60 years before his death. Mrs. McCard has been a member of the Methodist church for over 60 years. She has always been a hard working, industrious woman and was well thought of by all who knew her. So passes to their reward another old settler of Jackson county.The funeral services were conducted Sunday at 10 a. m. by Rev. W. J. Trimble at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Head, with interment in the Jackson cemetery north of town.
