BELLEVUE, Iowa - Archie E. Mueller, 71, of 613 Pine Drive, Bellevue, died Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 2003, at home, surrounded by his family.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue.

Mr. Mueller worked at the Savanna (Ill.) Ordinance Depot prior to retiring from John Deere Dubuque Works in 1986.

He was born on Dec. 14, 1931, in Bellevue, son of Alban and Theresa (Ries) Mueller. He married Sandra L. August on Oct. 27, 1956, in St. Catherine.

He graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1950. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Army.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273, a volunteer for the Bellevue Ambulance Service for 15 years and had coached boys and girls little league.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra L. Mueller; two sons, Jeff (Nancy) Mueller, of Bellevue, and Mark (Kathy) Mueller, of Waipahu, Hawaii; a daughter, Joan (Dave) Wakeman, of Urbandale; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Amanda, Kelby and Parker Mueller; three sisters, Marcella Bechen, of Bellevue, Gertrude (Warren "Skip") Raymond, of Durant, and Patricia Greene, of Dubuque; and two brothers, Earl and Edward (Madonna) Mueller, both of Bellevue.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Frances "Fran" Kelly.

In lieu of flowers, an Archie E. Mueller Memorial Fund has been established.
