Obituary - Quad-City Times, Wednesday, Nov 10, 2004

Charles H. "Charley" Duhme age 87 of Dubuque and formerly of Andrew Iowa died on Sunday evening November 7, 2004 at the Dubuque Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque Iowa.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday November 12, 2004 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa with Celebrant/Chaplain Rev. Ruth Ann Scott of Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday November 112004.0 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa. Burial will be in the Andrew Iowa Cemetery.

Charles H. Charley Duhme was born on December 22, 1916 in LaMotte Iowa to Henry D. Duhme and Myrtle M. (Ruff) Duhme. He was educated and attended Jackson County country schools. He married Theresa Bedford on September 23, 1951 in Andrew Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 19, 1979. He then married Donna J. Nelson Briggs on June 7, 1980 in Alpha Illinois. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2003.

Charley had worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa on the block line for over 20 years and had also worked as a mechanic and owned an auto shop for many years. After retiring from Clinton Engines he worked as a mechanic for Ken Reed at his auto shop in Andrew. Charley loved gardening fishing and working on vehicles.

Charley is survived by: children- Joan Smith of Seattle WA Charles Chuck(Carol) Duhme of DeWitt IA Barb Beam of Dubuque IA & Kevin Duhme of Dubuque IA; step-children- Robert(Janet) Briggs of Knoxville IA Melvin(Deb) Briggs of Alpha IL Cathy(Mrs. Robert) Jackson of Wyoming IL Harold Briggs of Margate FL Evelyn McCord of Macomb IL & Patricia Briggs of Indianapolis IN; 10 grandchildren 6 step-grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren 5 step-great-grandchildren; 1 brother- Oscar Duhme of Maquoketa IA; & 1 sister- Dorothy(Mrs. Ralph) Bartels of Delmar IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents wife's 1 brother & 2 sisters.
