Kenneth A. Duhme age 82 of Maquoketa Iowa died on Monday morning March 16, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque Iowa.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday March 21, 2009 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 P.M. on Friday March 20, 2009 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery Maquoketa Iowa.
Kenneth A. Duhme was born on September 4, 1926 north of Fulton in Jackson County Iowa to Fred Duhme and Mary (Campbell) Duhme. He was a graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. He married Coralee Ruth Frank on August 29, 1948 in Maquoketa Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2003.
Kenneth farmed the family farm north of Maquoketa his entire life. The farming operation consisted mainly of dairy beef and crops.
Kenneth was passionate about his life as a farmer and raising his family. He was known by his children as a good father who was hard working kind and loving. He loved family get-togethers and watching old westerns on television. His collie dogs named "Buster" were special to him and he enjoyed bowling in leagues and running in his earlier years. He was patriotic.
Kenneth is survived by children Kenneth Paul Duhme of Maquoketa IA Linda (Jack) Olson of Arlington Heights IL Rick Duhme of Maquoketa IA Loralee (Tim) Malone of Eureka CA Laureen (Jerry) Schwenker of Maquoketa IA Randy (Linda) Duhme of Maquoketa IA and Kevin (Susan) Duhme of Maquoketa IA; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters Arlene Tegmeier of Morristown MN and Helen Spratt of Oelwein IA; brothers Albert (Margaret) Duhme of Maquoketa IA Melvin (Jean) Duhme of Otter Creek IA and Chester (Yvonne) Duhme of Hardy AR; a sister-in-law Beulah Duhme of Marion IA; and a brother-in-law- Danny Blatt of WA. He was preceded in death by his parents his wife 2 brothers Elmer and Raymond a half-brother Harold a sister Thelma and a granddaughter in infancy Holly.
Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association or to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
