PROMINENT MARION WOMAN DEAD AFTER A YEAR'S ILLNESS

Mrs. George Buzza, 76, died today at 2:30 a.m. at the family home, 440 Fourth Street, following an illness of nearly a year. She was born Sophia Ann Winsor June 23, 1852, at Sabula, the third child of John Baker and Mary Ann Winsor. Her childhood was spent in Sabula and she came to Marion at the age of 16 to attend the Young Ladies seminary. During this time she made her home with her uncle, Henry C. Winsor. She taught several terms of school at Walker and in the vicinity of Marion, having the Hazel Ridge school near here for several terms.

On Nov. 2, 1876 she was married to George Buzza at Miles. There they began housekeeping and their eldest daughter, Mary, was born there. They moved to Marion in 1882, and since that time Marion has been their home.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Buzza is survived by five children: Mary Buzza and George Earl Buzza of Minneapolis, Frank C. Buzza of Pierre, SD and Mrs. Mildred Rice and Mrs. Amber Travis, both of Marion and six grandchildren, two half brothers, Joseph McElroy of San Bernardino, Calif., and George McElroy of Montana, and one half sister, Mrs. John Schrambling of Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Buzza was a life long member of the Christian church and she was interested in all its branches. She was an active member in the W.C.T.U. as long as her health permitted.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Christian church, with the Rev. H.E. Trimble officiating. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
Lived on 4th St. in Marion, IA at time of her death.
