Thelma Irwin

Thelma M. Irwin, 88, of Maquoketa, died Monday. December 28, at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at W.G. Carson & Son Funeral Home in Maquoketa, with the Rev. Richard Eis of the Maquoketa United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial is at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Irwin was born Feb. 16, 1899, in Jackson County to William and Allie Belle (Mathews) Davison.

She married Clarence A. Irwin on Oct 7, 1920 in Maquoketa. He died October 14, 1980.
She worked as a homemaker and she and her husband farmed near Andrew for many years before moving to Maquoketa.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence Jr. and Glenn of Maquoketa; a grand-daughter; a great-grandson; a step great-granddaughter; two sisters, Miss Genevieve Davison, and Mrs. Markel (Gladys) Summers of Maquoketa; three brothers, Dale, Frank and Lloyd Davison of Maquoketa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, a sister and five brothers.
