Services were Monday, Dec. 28 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, North Garryowen, for Mrs. Anita G. Shanahan, 87, of Bernard, who died Saturday, Dec. 19 at Jackson County Public Hospital.

The Rev. Thomas Bisenius officiated. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, North Garryowen. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 27 at Haylock,O'Hara & Kedley Funeral Home, Maquoketa where a parish rosary was said at 7: 30 p.m.

Mrs. Shanahan was born Nov. 16, 1900 in North Garryowen to Timothy and Mary McLaughlin Donovan. On April 18, 1933, in North Garryowen, she married Leo T. Shanahan.

She and husband farmed in the North Garryowen area. She was a member of St. Patrick's catholic Church and Rosary Society of the church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William (Jean) Dunne of Bellevue; Mrs. Harold (Joyce) Gibbs of Bernard; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968, a son James in 1944, a son Allan in 1970, four sisters, two brothers and four grandsons.
