Died - ATKINSON – At her residence in Lyons, Kansas, on Wednesday morning, February 15th at 2 o’clock a.m., Martha, wife of U.V. Atkinson, formerly a resident of Monmouth, this county, aged 36 years, 1 month and 20 days. Funeral at the Presbyterian church on Thursday, at 10 o’clock a.m.

Mrs. Atkinson, on the day preceding her death, was in her usual health. She had been suffering more or less for some six years from an affection of the larynx, though the family did not dream of the fatal results – not even Mrs. A. herself.

The first intimation the family had of the fatal difficulty was at 2 o’clock on Wednesday morning, when Mr. Atkinson was awakened by his wife, who was in intense agony. She could not breathe. Instantly Dr. Chase was called, and though but a few moments elapsed, before he arrived, the spirit of the sufferer departed.
