Maquoketa Record, February 12, 1902.

JOHN MITCHELL was born in Wayne County, Ohio, August 17, 1834, and passed over to the great beyond February 7, 1902, at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 20 days. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1838 and located near Maquoketa. Later he moved near this city, where he was united in marriage to Harriett Streets, December 25, 1853. This union was blessed with thirteen children, one dying in infancy. The remaining twelve, together with the bereaved wife and one sister, mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband, indulgent father, and a faithful brother and friend. Mr. Mitchell was an exemplary citizen and the entire community heartily sympathizes with the bereaved family. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Leiser at the residence, Monday.
