DIED – At the residence of Dr. Amos, in Miles, on Thursday, Oct. 31, 1898, at 11 o’clock a.m., Mrs. Mary Prior, aged 67 years.

The deceased, who was familiarly known as “Aunt Mary” by a host of friends and relatives, went to the residence of Dr. Amos one week ago last Tuesday, to care for the Doctor’s little ones during his wife’s absence, and was taken sick in the evening with bilious fever, which, with other difficulties, terminated a life of usefulness, and aunt Mary’s genial countenance will no longer be welcomed to the sick room, to cheer the desponding sufferer and gladden the hearts of her numerous friends.

By the death of Mrs. Prior many have lost a true friend, society a worthy member, and the church a devoted and exemplary Christian. Verily she went about doing good, and at the master’s call with her “lamp trimmed and burning” passed fearlessly through the dark portals of death to meet the reward of a well spent life.
