Jasper Green, an old time and respected citizen of this community, died at his late home on West Platt Street yesterday (Wednesday) morning, August 17, at 7 o’clock, the cause of his death being heart trouble, brought on by overwork. Deceased was born in Ohio in 1842. In September, 1861, he enlisted in Co. B, ninth Iowa infantry, and served through the war, a brave and valiant solider. Honest and industrious, Jasper Green had earned the respect of all our citizens and his untimely taking away will be regretted. The widow, and one son, Clarence, who survive to mourn the loss, have the sympathy of all. The funeral services will be held at the house Friday afternoon at two o’clock, and by a request which he made, will be conducted by the G. A. R. – A. W. Drips Post, No 74.
