Mrs. Dwight F. House, who for more than fifty years, was a resident of this city, passed away Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock at her late home in Davenport.

Mrs. Sophia B. House was born in Pittsfield, Mass., July 16, 1833. She received her education in the schools of New York City, coming to Maquoketa at the age of 24 years.

For a period of over fifty years she resided in this city. Six years ago the family moved to Davenport, where the daughter Miss Wilma secured a very fine position.

Mr. and Mrs. House were united in marriage in this city June 23, 1856. Mr. House passed away May 15, 1914.

Mrs. House was a woman of beautiful character and during her long period of residence in this city enjoyed the friendship of a large number of people.

Only the daughter, Miss Wilma V. survives to mourn the loss of a devoted mother.

Miss Wilma accompanied the body of her mother to this city Wednesday evening and funeral service was held at 2:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon from the Buchner chapel, Rev. D. F. Boomershine officiating. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
