November 4, 1899Joseph R. Case died at his home in Duncombe, Thursday morning, Oct. 26, 1899, from the effects of asthma with which he had been afflicted for several years. He was born in Kentucky, April 25, 1830, and in early childhood moved with his parents to Indiana and from there to Clinton county, Iowa. He was married to Elizabeth Russel in 1852 and early in the spring of 1874 they moved to Jackson county where they resided until 1886, they then moved to Hamilton county and to this place in 1890 where he has since resided. He will be buried today at 3 p.m. by the side of his wife who preceded him to that future home just one year ago the 3d day of this month.
Mr. Case is well known in this section as he was once in business here, and owned the farm now owned by Pete Petersen. Mr. Case has been in feeble health for some time. He was a straight-forward, upright man and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
