Funeral of Arch F. Hamley Held This Afternoon

The funeral of Arch F. Hamley, whose sad and untimely death was mentioned in our Tuesday’s issue will be held from the Methodist church this Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. I. A Bartholomew of Sioux City, formerly pastor of the M. E. church in this city, officiating.

Obituary

Arch F. Hamley was born in Maquoketa, Iowa September 18, 1882 and passed away about three o’clock Tuesday morning April 13, after an illness of nearly four months. He attended our public schools and graduated from our high school with the class of 1900. On his eighteenth birthday he went into business and for twenty years had by exceptional ability, honesty and courtesy, in the photography business building up a large patronage and winning his way to the topmost circle of our commercial life. One June 11, 1912 he was united in marriage to Miss Edith Roush and to this union 3 children were born Archine, Harlan and James and to these tots with the faithful little wife and mother goes forth volumes of sincere sympathy. Mr. Hamley had thrice been honored by the people of the Second Ward who elected him as their councilman, he being a member of that body at the time of his death. He was an honored member of Helion Lodge No. 35, A. F. & A. M., Bath Kol Chapter No. 94, R. A. Masons; and Peerless Lodge No. 60, K. of P. In 1908 he united with the M. E. Church and in his death this church loses one of its strongest members and most consistent workers. The community has lost a noble man; the home will miss a loving husband and devoted father. Truly Maquoketa is poorer now that Arch Hamley has left us. His life has been one that we should emulate, and his character is an ever living monument revered by all.
