Jackson Sentinel, June 20, 1878.

JOHN LINDEN was an intelligent German, honest in action, industrious in habit; but he has been a very hard drinker up to last New Year’s Day, when he signed the pledge of total abstinence, and since then he had struggled manfully against his appetite to live a more sober and better life. Report says that he had lately fallen away from his good resolutions and had taken to drinking again, but we do not know whether this is true or not; we hope it is not. His remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery last Sunday, and were followed to their last resting place by the Reform Club and a large concourse of friends and neighbors. The deceased left two children to mourn his loss.
