The death of J. W. Kerwin , which occurred at his home near this place Saturday morning at three o’clock, was indeed to many very unexpected, notwithstanding the well-known serious condition of his health for some time past. Even the medical fraternity frequently expressed themselves as somewhat hopeful, little thinking the end so near. Mr. Kerwin retained fully his senses to the last moment, and expressed to those at his bedside that he was reconciled to his position and died as he had lived, a devout Catholic in communion with his God. The family were all present, with the exception of his son Frank, who resides in western Iowa. The funeral took place Monday at ten o’clock. Interment at the Sugar Creek cemetery.
