Jackson Sentinel, November 24, 1892.

DIED-

George Head

Geo. Head, a farmer living on Mrs. Walter Doe’s farm near Welton, went to town last Thursday afoot and failed to reach home as night came on. The distance was little over a mile from the farm house to the store where he did some trading. His family growing anxious some of them set out with the assistance of neighbors in quest of him. Enquiry at the store was answered by the statement that he started for home hours before. Then it was thought that he may have stopped at some house along the road to gain shelter from the storm. But along the way back the searchers found Mr. Head with his hat and overshoes off leaning against the fence in a dazed and unconscious condition. He was taken home and died the next day without again recovering consciousness. He was not a drinking man and the misfortune cannot be attributed to liquor, but he was simply driven to distraction by the blinding storm of that day, which are of rare occurrence in this part of Iowa.
Later-From bruises found upon the body it is believed he was struck by a train.
