Mrs. L. W. Clark Services Are Held; Burial Here.

Funeral services for a former Maquoketan and a native of Jackson County, Mrs. Leslie W. Clark, 72, who died Nov. 28th in Spring Valley, Minnesota, were held Tuesday in Spring Valley. Remains were brought to Maquoketa for burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The former Rubie M. Richardson, she was born on a farm near here, Feb. 23, 1887. A Maquoketa High School graduate, she attended Cornell College at Mt. Vernon and for several years taught school and gave music lessons.

On July 4, 1910 she married Dr. Leslie W. Clark, also of Maquoketa. The couple lived at Onaka, South Dakota until September 1912, when they moved to Chester, Iowa. In the summer of 1934, Dr. and Mrs. Clark moved to Spring Valley. Mrs. Clark was active in church, school, women’s club, civic and political affairs. A member of the Congregational Church, she had been Fillmore County Republican chairwoman the past 19 years.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Miss Mary Anne Clark of New York City; two sons, Dr. Richard E. Clark of Manchester, Iowa, and Major William A. Clark of Arlington, Virginia; two grandchildren; and a brother Bryon Richardson of Maquoketa.
