DIED-

PHELPS-In this city, Sunday March 18, 1881, Mrs. Julia V. P. J. Phelps, aged 71 years.

Mrs. Phelps was born in Montpelier, Vermont in 1810. In 1832 she was married to the husband she leaves behind, and lived with him 49 years. In 1856, with her family, she came to Maquoketa, and has since made this her home. She was the mother of eight children, four of whom, three daughters and one son, still survive. Mrs. Phelps has been a member of the Baptist church a great many years and was a consistent Christian. She was respected by all and in her own family was almost idolized. The good old woman has gone where troubles, cares and pains can never more afflict.
