Jackson Sentinel, March 24, 1881.

Death of Daniel Paup-

We learn from the Lyons Mirror that Daniel Paup, aged 72 years, died in that city on Monday afternoon the 14th after several weeks illness. He had been ill with dropsy of the heart, and at the last was stricken with paralysis, one side being totally disabled.

Mr. Paup had long been a resident of Jackson and Clinton counties, for some dozen years living in this city. He had acquired quite large means and reared a numerous family.

For a week previous to his death his son Daniel of Spragueville had been with him; his daughters, Mrs. Sheets and Mrs. Burns(also of Jackson county were also with him at the close, and a few hours after his death two other sons, William of Westside and Harrison of Scranton, Iowa arrived.

Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock, funeral services were held at the house by Rev. E. W. Jeffries, and the family and friends drove with the remains to Spring Brook, Jackson county, where the burial took place Wednesday- his body being laid according to his request, in the same ground with those of his mother, first wife, and other members of his family.
