Pearl Liston Freyer, wife of John Freyer of Green Island, died at her home in that village on Friday, July 5, after an illness of about one and a half years from tuberculosis. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Liston and was born near Maquoketa on February 24, 1889, being 29 years, 4 months and nine days old at the time of her death. She was married on October 19, 1909, to John Freyer and four children were born to them – Harold, who died in infancy; Leona, age nine; Floyd, aged seven; Mabelle, aged five years. Besides the husband and three children she leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Harry Girt, Moline; Miss Ethel Winterstein, Maquoketa; Roy Liston, Camp Upton, L. L; John Liston, Maquoketa.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational church, Green Island, at one o’clock Monday afternoon, the pastor, G. R. Evans, officiating. Vocal music was furnished by Mrs. J. H. Chick, Mrs. Herman Krabbenhoft and Miss Gladys Wyckoff, with Mrs. Omar Burnett as pianist. Interment was made in Van Buren cemetery.
