Mrs. Adeline Matthews Dead

At the advanced age of 92 years, Mrs. Adeline Matthews died at her home on North Olive street Monday evening, March 18, at 8 o’clock, death being due to the infirmities of old age. Born in Ohio in 1826, she came to Iowa in 1856 and had made her home in this vicinity for many years.

Mrs. Matthews was a member of the M. E. church, a consistent Christian woman who was ever deemed a kind neighbor and true friend. Her husband, William Matthews, precede her in death 21 years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Pierce of this city, and three sons, James of N. Dakota, John and Curtis of Maquoketa. The funeral will be held from the Buchner chapel Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock, Rev. J. J. Kidder officiating, with interment in the Sutton cemetery, near Fulton.
