At the golden sunset of a perfect day, came the sunset of a noble life, and a soul was ever so gently wafted to realms of peace and light. Agnes Hale Wyrick was born in Brandford, Canada, July 21, 1855, and passed away July 13, 1918, his age being 62 years, 11 months and 22 days. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Illinois, remaining there a short time, as they soon moved on to Iowa, locating on the place where she passed away. She was baptized in the Church of England.
She grew to womanhood on the homestead where her parents settled, and was united in marriage to Alfred E. Wyrick Dec. 25, 1878.
To this union four children were given, Earl at home, Dessie, wife of L. A. Peters, Anamosa, Iowa; Grace at home, and Floyd in the service in the U. S. Marines.
Her life was one of loving toil and care, always thinking, always doing for the welfare of others. Her happiest days were those when surrounded by her loved ones. Ill health prevented her mingling with those outside the home, but nevertheless her friendship and sympathy went out to all. The past few months brought untold suffering but she bore it bravely.
She leaves to mourn her passing her faithful, loving husband and children, one dear little grandson, Gale Allen Peters; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Clouse, Sycamore, Ill. And Mrs. J. S. Fort, Eagle Grove, Ia.; and one brother, John Hale of Hepner, Oregon. A loving mother, a kind friend and neighbor has given up the battle of life and gone to her reward.
The funeral was held from the home Thursday afternoon, Rev. John Dawson officiating. The Monmouth choir sang two songs and Miss Olga Peters of Baldwin sang “Face to Face.” Interment was made in the Monmouth cemetery.
