August 2, 1918Obituary
Minerva A. Twiss was born at Cambridge, N.Y., Nov. 6, 1835, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alice Hoffman in Meadow Grove, Neb. July 29, 1918, aged 82 years, 8 months and 23 days. In the fall of 1849 Deacon Twiss and family moved to Ohio and to Iowa in the spring of 1953. She was united in marriage to Levi A. Eckman March 1, 1860, who passed away Sept. 21, 1891. Two daughters were born to them, Alice, wife of Wm. Hoffman, of Meadow Grove, Neb., and Ada, wife of Chas. L. Wade of Wall Lake, Iowa. The family resided at Elwood, Clinton county, Iowa, till the spring of 1884, when they all moved to Nebraska. She has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hoffman, for the past seven years.
The past six months her health had been failing, her greatest trouble being her fear of troubling anyone. She died as she wished, just fell asleep, never sick in bed a single day. Mrs. Eckman was the daughter of the late J. R. Twiss, formerly of Maquoketa. After a brief service at the church in Meadow Grove, July 30, she was laid to rest by her husband in Emerick cemetery at Meadow Grove.
