Funeral services for G. Edward Binns, 79 of Maquoketa, 21-year veteran county clerk of court, will be today, Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the Carson Funeral Home, Maquoketa. The Reverend Lawrence Beals of the Maquoketa United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

He died Wednesday morning, Feb. 19, at his home.

Binns was born March 24, 1895 in Jackson County to George and Jessie Cromwell Binns. On June 15, 1921, he married Emma Ketchum in Marion who preceded him in death in 1953. On July 31, 1954 he married Jennie Ketchum who also preceded him in death.

During his life he was a member of the local Mason Lodge, a member of the Schriners in Davenport, a member of the local Maple Leaf Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the I.O.O.F. Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge of Fulton.

His survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lolla Lambert, Grand Mound, and Mrs. Priscilla Anderson, Mason City; one brother, Fred, Iron Hill; one sister; Mrs. Nettie Lund, Maquoketa; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to two wives he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
