PIONEER LADY PASSES AWAY

Abagail Lavina Hoderby was born Feb. 8, 1822 in Lawrence County, Ohio, and died at the home of her son, Charles W. Earles on December 27, 1919 at the age of 97 years, 10 months, 19 days.

She was married to Andrew Earles on Sept. 5, 1838. They came to Jackson County in 1843 and made this community their home. They lived happily together for sixty-six years, her husband preceding her in death fifteen years ago last August. Grandma Earles lived in this vicinity seventy-six years.

To this union were born eight children, Lucinda Collins, deceased; Joel Sanders Earles, deceased; William Andrew Earles, his whereabouts unknown; Samuel R. Earles of South Dakota; Mary Anna Burket, Daniel Earles, deceased; Lewis Earles and Charles W. Earles.

She leaves to mourn, four children, nineteen grandchildren, and forty-four great grandchildren. After the death of her husband, Grandma was tenderly cared for by her grandchild, Miss Emma Earles, at the home of her son, Charles W. Earles, with whom she made her home.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church at Andrew Monday at 10:00 o’clock and burial at the Andrew Cemetery.
