Raymond Holtz

Oxford Junction – Raymond Holtz, 72, of Wyoming died Tuesday, Sept. 25, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services were Friday, Sept. 28, at the Zion American Lutheran Church, Wyoming. The Rev. Gregory Hannaman officiated.

Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery where military rites were presented by American Legion Post No. 159.

He was born May 14, 1912 at Onslow to William and Emilie Bucholtz Holtz. He moved to Wyoming in 1926 and graduated from the Wyoming High School in 1931.

He married Alice Rathje on Sept. 12, 1935 at Wyoming and Worked for the Henry Brunscheen Trucking Co., until serving in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge he worked as a commission agent for Mobil Oil Co. for 27 years. He retired in 1962.

His memberships included the Zion American Lutheran Church and American Legion Post No. 259.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, of Wyoming; one son Richard of Bettendorf; two grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Raymond (Hilda) Huggins, of Wyoming. His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
