Joseph Nemmers

The funeral for Joseph P. Nemmers, 86, of Route 1, LaMotte was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Donatus Catholic Church with the Rev. Cletus J. Hawes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Nemmers died Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.

He was born May 26, 1898, in St. Donatus, to George and Margaret Frantzen Nemmers. He married Irene Davis, Jan. 25, 1927, in St. Donatus. They farmed in the LaMotte area all of their lives, retiring in 1966.

He was a member of St. Donatus Catholic Church, LaMotte Knights of Columbus, Farm Bureau and Holy Name Society and a past director of LaMotte Telephone Company.

Survivors include four sons, Virgil of Bellevue, Alvin of Sherril, Loras of LaMotte and Robert of Dubuque; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Wilming of Dubuque; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Isadore (Viola) Till of LaMotte.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1983, a son, a grandson, seven brothers and two sisters.
