Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, Iowa, Thursday, June 4, 1908
Died.
ALBERRY.---Jackson B. Alberry was born at Johnston, Ohio, Jan. 3, 1835, and died on May 27, 1908, at his home in Maquoketa. On Nov. 13, 1853, he was married to Sophie Jane Hardin, and together came to Iowa in 1854 settling near Canton in this county, at which place he resided for nearly half a century. Two children were born to this union, Homer S. Alberry of Canton and Emma, now Mrs. James Sinkey of Anamosa, Iowa. His wife died February 3, 1865, and on Sept. 16th of the same year he was married to Margaret Stickley. Two children were born to them, both dying in infancy. Mr. Alberry has been quite an extensive land owner, but the greater part of his life was spent at the blacksmith business, at which he was an expert. In 1899, he moved to Maquoketa where he has since resided working at his trade while he was able. Mr. Alberry was widely known in this part of the county as well as about Canton, and has a great many acquaintances and friends who will sympathize with the family in their loss. His wife, two children and seven grandchildren, John, Bert, Charles and Jessie Sinkey of Anamosa, and George, Samuel and Grace Alberry of Canton, survive.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 29, at the church at Emeline with interment at Hickory Grove cemetery Elder John W. Said officiating.
