Lynne "Opal" Carr, 90, of Maquoketa, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 26, 1999 at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa with Elder Carole Kasowski of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Maquoketa officiating.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial was in Suttton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

Mrs. Carr was born Oct. 2, 1909 in Faulkner, Iowa, to George and Grace Finch Wagner.

She married Dillion O. Carr on Feb. 24, 1934 in Rock Island, Ill. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1987.

Mrs. Carr was a 1927 graduate of Ackley High School. She then attended the University of Iowa and received a physical education degree in 1931.

She taught school in Clarinda for one year and was the principle at Zwingle High School for two years.

She then became a homemaker and raised her family. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, the outdoors, birds and pets.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Donald) Krantz and Brabara, (Mrs. Allan) Watters, both of Maquoketa; two sons, Gerald (and Deanna) Carr and Darrald Carr, both of Maquoketa; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

A memeorial fund has been established.
