Former Preston Man Dies; Last Rites In South Dakota

Last rites were held for Peter Petersen, 73, of Hurley, S. Dak., on Tuesday, Aug. 11, Mr. Petersen died Aug. 8 in a Sioux Falls, S. Dak., hospital where he had been a patient for many weeks.

Peter Petersen, son of Christian and Johanna Petersen, was born Sept. 30, 1890, at Preston, Ia. As a young man, Petersen moved to South Dakota.

An infant son, his parents, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

His wife, Ella; four children, Ilene Petersen of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Gifford (Evelyn) Sherard of Hurley, Leland of Hurley and Merle of Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren; three brothers, Jens and Enguirt of Maquoketa and Hans of Parker, S. Dak.; three sisters, Mrs. Gottlieb Beck of Maquoketa, Mrs. Clarence Anderson of Chicago, and Mrs. Harry Eckhoff of Hurley; and nieces and nephews survive.
