Mercedes McDonald Jacob, 102, formerly of Bellevue, Cedar Rapids, and St. Paul, Minn., died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997 in Jewish Home and Hospital in New York, N. Y.

Mrs. Jacob requested that there be immediate cremation and no funeral services.

Her ashes will be buried at a later date.

Mrs. Jacob was born Oct. 14, 1894, in Bellevue, to Taylor and Agnes Campbell McDonald.

She married Herman Jacob March 6, 1918 in Stillwater, Minn.

She visited in Bellevue every year until she was 97 years old.

Survivors include three daughters, Jan Schultz Wallman of New York, Marge (Mrs. Dr. James) Roling of Oelwein and Kate (Mrs. Gene) Kemmerer of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Mercedes Swanson; two sons-in-law, Frank Swanson and Ross Schultz; and two grandchildren.

She was a librarian, and memorials may be made to any library.
