Death Takes Another Splendid Young Lady

Death has twice made inroad into the ranks of our young people the past few days, and two of our young lady teachers have been taken from our midst. Following closely upon the death of Miss Florence Nims, occurred the passing of Miss Golda Quinn, who died at the Suthers cottage Sunday morning from complications arising from appendicitis for which she underwent an operation about two weeks ago. Miss Quinn rallied from the operation nicely and her recovery was imminent, but on Saturday her condition took a turn for the worse and she continued to fail rapidly until the end came.

She was born in Maquoketa, March 13, 1902, and was an honored graduate of our high school with the class of 1920, since which time she had taught school in Clinton and Jackson county schools, and also in South Dakota.

Miss Quinn was a young lady of quiet, unassuming ways, blest with a kindly disposition which, together with her ability and sterling character, won a host of friends who deeply regret her untimely death.

There are left to mourn, her mother, Mrs. Truman Gregory, one half brother and a half sister. Funeral services were held this Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church, her pastor, Rev. Otis Moore of Elwood, officiating. The body was placed in the receiving crypt in the mausoleum there to rest until road conditions permit removal to the family lot in Union cemetery.
